Bernhard an der Gassen

Alternative Psychotherapy Practitioner, Information Scientist, and Art Historian in Berlin, Deutschland

I am a German-Austrian Alternative Psychotherapy Practitioner, specialized in Trauma therapy at Arche medica.

I am working as a librarian at Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin - Preußischer Kulturbesitz, my occupation is similar to this one of a museum registrar. I volunteer as peer mentor for addiction issues, and I am pleased to guide visitors through the recently renovated Baroque Revival, historically Prussian, Unter den Linden library.

In my spare time I function as a Neigbourhood Council Member in Kreuzberg, and it´s a great pleasure to be able to welcome immigrants with FreiwilligenAgentur KreuzbergFriedrichshain.

At Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin I studied Library and Information Science (M.A. LIS) with emphasis on Information literacy, Semantic Web, Linked open data and the curation of a library- and digital exhibition based on Herwarth Waldens avant-gardist Sturm-Archiv.

In Vienna I have been working at Prince Eugene of Savoys Baroque Belvedere Palaces, which is Austrian National Art Gallery. Within the scope of my responsibilities at Belvedere Research Center I am proud that I have been able to contribute to the restitution of Gustav Klimts Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I., which is at New York based Neue Galerie today.

In addition I have been working at Kunsthalle Wien, Palais Dorotheum, Hofburg, and Schönbrunn Palace. I underwent trainings on Antirassism, Empowerment, Inter-/Cultural-, Diversity- and Business Management.

Privately I enjoyed a lot living in Leopoldstadt - formerly nicknamed "Matzo Island" - close to Prater and Danube.

At Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck I studied Art History (Mag. phil.), Romance Studies (French & Italian), Europ. Ethnology, and Medicine. My focus was on Gender Studies, Heraldry, Modern painting and sculpture, in part. Pablo Picasso, Roman Baroque-, Loire Valley Castles-, and Modernism architecture.

Among others I worked at University of Innsbruck, Kunsthalle Tirol, Salzlager Hall i.T., Kunstraum Ibk., aut. architektur und tirol, Premierentage, Festwochen der Alten Musik, and Tiroler Landestheater.

I graduated from an artistic high school with i.a. a paper about migrants, a cubist drawing, and an Italian exam. In follow I did an Intercultural and -religious Sabbatical in Anatolia and in India.

I have a passion for languages, travelling, different cultures and unusual contacts. I speak English and German fluently, have some knowledge - in ongoing learning processes - in Spanish, Italian, Turkish, and Russian.
